Former Camarillo mayor Mike Morgan dies in car crash

Former Camarillo mayor and city council member Mike Morgan has died in a car crash that left his wife with serious injuries, the the city reported on Wednesday. 
“Mike Morgan spent many years serving our community in both an elected capacity and several nonprofit and church-related activities,” said a statement shared by the city of Camarillo on X.
He was elected to the city council in 1980 and served six terms as the city’s mayor, officials noted. 
“He made a significant contribution to our City through his leadership and devotion to Camarillo,” the statement said. 
Morgan was born in Texas in 1947 before relocating to Camarillo in 1961. He graduated from Camarillo High School before attending Ventura College and eventually Cal State University, Long Beach, where he earned a bachelors degree in psychology. He then received a masters degree from University of Southern California. 
“We are saddened to learn of a tragic vehicle accident yesterday, resulting in the death of former City Council member and Mayor Mike Morgan and severe injuries to his wife Donna,” said a statement from current Mayor Tony Trembley. “On behalf of the City Council and the entire City staff, please keep Mike and Donna Morgan and their family in your thoughts and prayers.”
Circumstances surrounding the crash have not yet been released.
